With the summer upon us, it is time to gear up, get some training and be ready for when your coworkers’ vacations end and end of the year projects need to be completed. If you are being tasked to deploy a new SharePoint site, have you consider mobile devices? If not you should.
As for myself, I have been spending the last two years deep in Responsive Design yet I still feel the crescendo building. If you want to learn more about Responsive Design and SharePoint 2013 (and SharePoint 2010), I will be at a few different events and conferences around the country this summer. Come find me, ask questions and hopefully learn a trick or two.
First up is Thursday July 18th at the Silicon Valley SharePoint User Group in Palo Alto. I will be a part of the Q&A panel so if you are going to be in the Northern California region on July 18th, be sure to stop by. Bob Mixon has been diligently working to increase the membership base of SVSPUG and it has been growing rapidly. Or come on by and watch me dodge those infrastructure questions waiting for someone to ask about branding, UI, display templates, design manager, responsive design, you know, front end stuff. Show up with your questions and try and stump us. Or ask the standard yet great question, “What new feature do you like most in SharePoint 2013?” Don’t have a question? Don’t worry, you will learn plenty, and might even think of a question, or twenty.
Next I will be heading out east for a two week east coast tour starting in Washington DC and ending in Boston. You will find me at SharePoint Fest DC from August 5th the 7th. Catch my session on SharePoint and Responsive Web Design on August 7th at 10am. SharePoint Fest is a very well ran conference with an outstanding lineup of sessions. The cost to benefit for SharePoint Fest is excellent and you will be hard-pressed to find a better value. Register now.
I am then going to drive to SPTechCon Boston, happening August 11th through the 14th. Yeah, that’s right, I want to spend time outside in the east-northeast in August. The weather is in the pleasant low-80’s right? Anyhow, once in Boston I am giving a talk on SharePoint, mobile and what to do on Tuesday August 13th at 8:30am. Then on Wednesday the 14th at 11:30am I am going to discuss SharePoint, Responsive Web Development and how to merge the two together. If you are going to miss SharePoint Conference in Las Vegas next March, then sign up for SPTechCon Boston. Or if you want great training this year and the party that is SPC, go to both!
Looking for another reason to attend? At each of my sessions I will be giving away a copy of my new book, Pro SharePoint 2013 Branding and Responsive Web Development (Apress June 2013).
Even if you have heard me talk about Responsive Design and SharePoint or already read my book or a few of my blog articles, Responsive Web Design is morphing, developing and improving almost daily. I have all new demo sites, the latest trends and more insights and experiences to share. I hope to see you either on the west coast or east coast this summer.
Late this summer, I look forward to attending SharePoint Saturday Redmond September 21, 2013, and you can always find me at local Northern California SharePoint User Group meetings including SF SPUG and SV SPUG.
